The Red Ties

Check out my son's band, The Red Ties. Jacob plays drums and sings. The other members of the band are Kent (guitar/vocals) and Haley (vocals) Huddleston.

They recently won the Battle of the Bands at a church in Bixby, and they will be recording soon as a part of their prize.

Here are some videos from last week:

You can find them on Youtube, Twitter and Facebook. Enjoy!

Happy Birthday to Emily Grace and Zachary Joseph! I am so grateful for your lives. You are a gift from God, and I pray that you will experience God's rich blessings as you love Him with your heart, soul, mind and strength. You are loved more than you can imagine.

Nineteen Years

I've reached the point in my life where I've been with my wife longer than I lived without her. I met her in September 1991, right before I turned 20, and we were dating soon after that.

So young.

We were engaged in the summer of 1992.

She said yes!

And we were married on August 14, 1993, right before I turned 22.

Opening presents at the Indiana reception after our honeymoon.

So I've been in love with Luanne (because it really was love, almost right away) for 21 years now, and today we've been married for 19. What a gift.

Winona Lake, South Whitley, Winona Lake, Lancaster, Redwood City, Simi Valley, Renton, Houston, Simi Valley, Jenks. We've lived in many places.

Grace College, Bethany University, North Park Seminary. Lots of school loans.

Grace College, Instant Copy, Marsh, Goshen News, K-Mart, Desert Christian, AdOut, First Baptist, Peninsula Covenant, California Kids, King's Swim Academy, Newport Covenant, Access, Houston Christian, Redeemer, Triplett Aerospace, Trak-1, Tulsa World of Gymnastics, Jenks Gymnastics, Parent Child Center. I'm sure I've forgotten some of the places we've worked to make ends meet.

And the kids... Joshua Matthew, Jacob Connor, Emily Grace, Zachary Joseph. So much chaos. So much joy.

I'm grateful for these nineteen years. Can't imagine life without you, Love. Happy Anniversary!

Well Hello Again...

It's been a while, huh?

The Nightingales are in the middle of a long, hot Oklahoma summer. Jacob started drum line camp just this morning. He is playing tenors in the Jenks High School Trojan Pride. Joshua just got back from an incredible week in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was at the Evangelical Covenant Church's triennial youth conference, CHIC. We spent the first part of the summer in California, visiting friends and family in Redwood City, attending the Covenant's Annual Meeting in Irvine, and staying with Luanne's mom and dad in Simi Valley. I was commissioned as a minister in the ECC, an honor that I wrote about for the Worship Connect blog. Emily's rocking Jenks Gymnastics and Zach's playing competitive soccer for the West Side Alliance.

We are sad at the passing of Luanne's grandpa, Paul Brown, but we are grateful for his full and faithful life. We are praying for comfort for his wife, Olivia, and for Luanne's mom, aunt and cousins.

What's up with you?
